David Geffen Medical Scholarship (Los Angeles, US)
David Geffen Medical Scholarship provides support to students who enroll in the School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). The scholarship is granted for all four years of study.
What is covered? The scholarship covers tuition for medical school. Besides, students receive around 2,800 $ per month to cover room and board, health insurance, textbooks and learning materials, and other expenses.
Who is eligible? Students from different countries, including Russia, can be granted this scholarship. Those who show excellent academic achievements have a good chance to get it. Currently, about a quarter of UCLA medical school students receive this scholarship.
How to apply? All applicants to the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA are automatically entered in the scholarship contest. It is awarded on the basis of merit. The applicants are considered through the application-and-interview process.
Amsterdam Merit Scholarship (Amsterdam, Netherlands)
The Merit Scholarship supports international students at the University of Amsterdam who have been admitted to one of the master’s programs offered by the Faculty of Medicine. The scholarship is awarded to students showing an excellent academic record and motivation.
What is covered? Applicants must still pay the full amount of tuition, but they receive approximately 4,000 € to cover living costs and other daily expenses.
Who is eligible? Citizens of any country, except for EU and EEA students, can be granted the scholarship. Please note that you cannot receive the Amsterdam Merit Scholarship if you have been awarded a Dutch study grant or loan (Studiefinanciering).
How to apply? One can apply online through the Digital Student Service Desk. You need to upload a letter of motivation (max 500 words), a letter of recommendation by your dean, professor, or academic supervisor, and a description of your extracurricular activities, such as volunteer work, participation in sports, and cultural events. Applications should be submitted before June 1 (start in September) or November 1 (start in February).
The Karolinska Institutet Global Master's Scholarships (Stockholm, Sweden)
The Karolinska Institutet Global Master’s Scholarships is a scholarship program offered by the Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm Medical University. It is among the top ten medical schools in the world according to QS Ranking 2021. The university awards the scholarships to excellent students in Global Master's Programs.
What is covered? The KI Global Master's Scholarship only covers the tuition fee for master’s programs. The average cost of a year for international students varies from 180,000 to 200,000 SEK which is approximately 21,000-23,000 $.
Who is eligible? International students who are citizens of any country (except EC and EEA) and are enrolled in one of the university's Global Master’s Programs: Master's Program in Nutrition Science, Master's Program in Public Health Sciences, Master's Program in Biomedicine, Master's Program in Bioentrepreneurship, and others.
How to apply? The application process runs on the university's website from October to February. Scholarship recipients are selected based on the documents proving their previous education and CV forms filled out according to the instructions of the Karolinska Institutet.
Dan David Prize Scholarships (Birmingham, UK)
What is covered? Successful candidates receive a scholarship of 15,000 $ to conduct medical research that is relevant for the current year. For example, in 2021, candidates were offered the following topics:
— Past - History of Health and Medicine;
— Present - Public Health;
— Future - Molecular Medicine.
Who is eligible? International students of any nationality may apply for the scholarship. A total of 20 scholarships are awarded, 10 of them to scholars at Tel Aviv University.
How to apply? To find out more about the selection process and apply, please visit the scholarship official website. The deadline for applications for the upcoming academic year is March of this year.
Scholarships by the Sydney School of Health Sciences (Sydney, Australia)
The University of Sydney awards a one-year scholarship to international medical students showing outstanding academic results.
What is covered? Successful candidates receive 6,000 $ (3,000 $ twice, at the beginning of each semester).
Who is eligible? International students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate medical programs at the University of Sydney are eligible to apply for the scholarship. You can only be granted it once. The scholarship is merit-based and is awarded for excellent academic achievement.
How to apply? No application is required to be considered for the scholarship. All applicants for medical programs will be automatically considered for the scholarship. The selection process runs from the end of August until January 1 of each year.
